Soft paper: 19–20° with low clamp pressure
Regular paper: 23–24° with medium clamp pressure
Hard paper: 30° with higher clamp pressure
For more information, read the Trimmer Knife Lifespan for Guillotine Paper Cutters article.
Standard steel: ~8 hours of operation
High-speed steel (inlaid): ~16 hours
Carbide: ~160 hours
Match die thickness, empty waste tray, cut only supported materials, and keep blades sharp/new. More tips: Corner Rounder Tips.
Yes. Update Ltd carries Drill Ease Wax. See Drilling Tips for Optimal Production.
CHT stands for Chemicals, Heat, and Time and is unique to Update Ltd. Read more: CHT process.
Standard steel often suits uncoated stock; CHT for laminated/coated; fluted for harder stocks; “marvel” style for thick stocks/plastics. See paper finishes & drill bit styles.
Set depth to just cut the bottom sheet; no need to cut deeply into the stick. See Drilling Tips.
Yes. Update Ltd is a leading expert in folding. Issues can range from pressure/setup to replacement parts.
CHT = Chemicals, Heat, and Time. It enhances wear and durability on select parts. See details.

Glue Dots are double-sided, pressure-sensitive adhesives that bond instantly to virtually any surface; available in various strengths, shapes, sizes, and profiles.
Consider cost, waste, durability, and health factors. See EVA vs. PUR.
PUR and several hot-melt choices. See Durable Softcover Books.
Press the item to the dot, peel away, then press onto the surface. Avoid touching dots with fingers. Applicators like the Dot Shot Pro are available.
It depends on stress and application. Contact us to discuss specifics or custom adhesives.
Application-dependent. We can advise or develop custom solutions for your use case.
For unusual shapes/materials or high-stress bonds. We frequently supply custom patterns and can advise on fit.
Yes—choose low/medium/high/super-high based on required bond strength. We can provide samples for testing.
Tack = adhesive aggressiveness. Profile = thickness. Low profile is flatter; higher profiles suit round/concave or irregular objects.
Larger surface contact = stronger bond. Select based on substrate size and desired strength.
Keep surfaces clean and dry. Moisture, oils, dust, lotions, and silicone coatings can interfere with bonding.
Paper, plastic, foil, glass, aluminum, Styrofoam, wood, PTFE, and more. Unsure? Call 877-512-8086.
Yes—non-toxic, odorless, FDA-approved for direct/indirect food contact, and conform to ASTM D-4236.
Yes—see our folding parts and guidance and Avoiding Wrinkles in Your Folding Machine.
CHT (Chemicals, Heat, Time) is our value-added coating service to extend wear life and reduce friction for drills, stitcher parts, perforators, slitters, and cutting tools.
Assume two 1" staples per book unless specified:
(2 inches per book) × (number of books) = total inches of wire
(total inches) ÷ (inches per spool) = spools needed
(total inches) ÷ (inches per pound) = pounds needed
They may be wire coating flakes. Check with a magnet; if magnetic, trace the wire path from spool to head for scraping points and oil appropriately.
Usually a simple head adjustment (e.g., wire curl) fixes feed consistency. Call us if issues persist.
Yes—apply 10W-30 to felt pads and lightly to wire. Don’t over-oil.
Yes—we repair/rebuild stitcher heads (typical turnaround 2–3 days).
Galvanized, tinned, high-carbon, and color stitching wire. See also Characteristics of Quality Stitching Wire.
